What was the very first clothing of human kind? Think way back… In the beginning of first human lives on earth, the Creator Himself clothed the first man and a woman in nothing else but animal skins, most likely fur, which is what introduced the mankind He loved so much to the concept of using leather and fur in making human clothing. Inevitably, people not only got well accustomed to following the Creator’s lead, but in time have also learned to eventually discern the best quality in leather and fur, which are, as we know today, unquestionably to be the exotic leathers and wild Sable fur…
Sable is world renowned for its luxurious fur that is unlike any other. It is a silky-soft, lightweight yet at the same time surprisingly durable pelt that is valued for its rarity and sheer brilliance. Found exclusively in the Barguzin region of Russia, the rarest kind of sable is unique in that it has long silver strands on a silky darker background of the main coat. The silver is what gives sable garments the trademark sheen of luxury that it is prized for. The presence of silver is also how to differentiate inferior dyed fur and pelts sourced from poorer quality lots or sometimes even other species. Those who prefer the exclusivity of highest quality sable should remember this simple rule - any deviation from the natural color of sable is simply an attempt to pass off inferior fur of lower grade for higher quality sable.
Russian Barguzin sable is known as the king of fur, amazingly lustrous, flowing symbol of luxury and wealth. Du Roi stands firm on sourcing only the top quality rarest types of genuine Russian wild Barguzin sable with natural silver – the elite of imperial fur. We use only the best chocolate colors with blue undercoat hue and natural silver accents this “king of fur” has to offer.

One of the most important qualities genuine Russian sable is prized for is the amount of silver that is present in the fur. The more silver - more rare and more valuable such fur will be. To spot the sought-after silver in sable fur you must be looking only at a natural, not colored fur. The lowest quality or defect colors and off-color pelts with no silver usually get dyed one way or another to conceal the imperfections and make the fur more presentable. So if you're buying dyed sable, you're not buying true quality and luxury. Therefore, if you prefer top quality sable fur, look only amongst natural, moreover wild kind, not dyed sable that comes exclusively from Barguzin region of Russia - Russia is the only place on earth where genuine sable lives.
There circulates a misleading expression "Canadian sable" that may confuse an unsuspecting buyer. The Canadian animal that has been unfairly nicknamed "Canadian sable" is actually called martin, not sable. Martin's fur should not be compared to genuine Russian sable and is more suitable to be compared with certain types of mink fur perhaps, if one must find a comparison. Another important thing to pay attention to is whether the fur you're buying is farmed or wild. For it is specifically the wild natural fur that is prized the most for its rarity, silky featherlike quality, and outstanding very impressive wearability.

Care:

So now that your new garment has made its debut to your collection, you do still have your own little part in ensuring that you give it the care it needs for it to stay in its best condition for you for many years to come, continuously keeping you happy by its exquisite beauty . Here are a few things to keep in mind:
• Fur loves to breathe, therefore avoid storing it in plastic garment bags and instead use breathable dark color bags for storage, such as the ones Du Roi provides with your purchase.
• Keep your fur away from moisture, especially in high humidity climates.
• Avoid exposure to heat and sunlight.
• Preferable storage should be in professional refrigerated facilities, where available.
• Whenever professional refrigeration is not possible, keep it in cool and dry place, away from UV exposure and those unwanted conditions listed above.
Du Roi keeps it one of its high priorities ensuring the longevity of our garments for our clients and therefore we intentionally do not dry clean using harsh methods on our garments in order to preserve the natural integrity of the fur as much as possible. Unfortunately, some widely used chemical treatments may irreversibly damage a fur garment, essentially making it a disposable item. Although, standard dry cleaning is a common practice in the fur industry as it temporarily makes fur garments visually more presentable, some harsh chemical treatments may strip away the natural oils that would otherwise serve as a protective barrier and give the fur a long life and durability. Some of those harsh dry cleaning methods may change the structure of the pelts such that upon any subsequent contact with moisture such as rain or snow, and then upon subsequent drying, it will stiffen the membrane and make it crack in some cases and therefore, render the garment no longer wearable. However, fur in its natural state has the remarkable ability to withstand the elements and be revived as may be necessary.
At Du Roi we aim to preserve natural qualities of our fur as much as possible, essentially keeping the fur with more of its natural properties to protect your investment and give you more years of enjoyment of your beautiful fur garment.
